La Meridiana – an exceptional Italian villa

La Meridiana is an elegant Italian villa, situated on a private estate in the Sabine hills, north of Rome. With five bedrooms, a tennis court, a heated pool and an available cook service, it makes a wonderful place to stay for a holiday with family or friends.

The setting of La Meridiana is exceptional. Immersed in a sumptuous garden created by garden designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd, surrounded by ancient olive groves, it is both scenic and private.

The stylish interiors are beautifully curated for comfort by interior designer John Stefanidis. At the heart of the villa is a magnificent painted sun dial or ‘meridiana’, which surrounds the staircase. A unique

feature, the sun dial was designed by the villa owner himself and the wall fresco was painted by the artist Dominique Lacloche.

Delicious Italian cuisine is just one of the many pleasures to experience at La Meridiana which can be prepared by the villa staff. While you dine on the terrace or sip a glass of wine by the pool at dusk, there are panoramic views to admire, over the garden and olive groves to the hills in the distance.

Venturing out and about is a must. La Meridiana is within easy reach of Rome, fascinating historic sites and picturesque countryside, so the villa is an excellent base for exploring the region.

”La Meridiana in Oliveto is a peaceful, beautiful haven. The house is distinctive and contains everything that it is possible to need for a wonderful holiday. The family and staff were very helpful in every respect. We had a brilliant holiday, loved the house and hope to return!”

”When we lived in Rome we tended to speed past the Sabine hills on our way to Umbria or Tuscany. This was, as I have now discovered, a mistake. La Meridiana is a perfect place from which to explore nearby treasures: the Villa D’Este and Villa Adriana at Tivoli, the gardens at Ninfa, the monastery at Farfa and, of course, Rome itself, which is a mere hour away by car…The house is surrounded by olive trees whose leaves shimmer in the breezy afternoon sun. Pliny and Virgil once swore that the local trees produced the best olive oil in all of Italy. One dares not contradict them. A small path leads down to a beautiful horizon pool. If you keep your nose just above the waterline you feel as if you’re swimming among the trees high above the surrounding hills.”
